We're extremely proud to be alongside some incredible local organisations as a finalist in the 2024 Kingston Sustainable Business Awards Waste Reduction and Recycling Solutions category.
As Australia's socially and environmentally responsible printer, we are accredited with the following certifications:
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS)
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS)
Forever focused on lightening our environmental footprint through minimising waste, generating more of our own energy, and sourcing raw materials from certified plantation forests, we're proud to say that we already recycle more than 99% of our waste materials through local accredited suppliers.
"Our values drive a sustainable approach to business," says Director Geoff Lawyer.
"As individuals and as a team, we want to look after our planet while brightening people's days with beautiful print and striking colours. That's why we go to extreme lengths to make sure we tread as carefully as possible. It's why we strive to be Australia's leading socially and environmentally responsible printer and to consider the environment at every step, without compromising service, quality, value or trust."
"We're very grateful to Kingston Business and Kingston City Council for providing us with the opportunity to showcase the work we do, and to Woodlands Golf Course for hosting the finalists’ Breakfast, pictured above. Thanks also to Matt Genever, CEO of Sustainability Victoria who will be keynote speaker at the Awards Gala, hosted by Kingston City Hall and supported by Community Bank Parkdale, on Wednesday, 28 August."
"Congratulations to the other finalists; Ego Everyday, Live Safe Education, Geofabrics Australasia, Braeside Brewing Co., The Mordi Canteen, Emma Jae Custom Laser Designs, Deidaa, Camp Epic Marketing, Not A Trace, Purple Pear, Soap Aid, Amidata, Fibrisol, Capsak, Party Higher, Quality Energy, Casafico, and young change-makers and innovators, Sarah Kokkinos and Razi Pilli.”
Complete Colour is FSC Certified, meaning we have full chain of custody over raw materials, following the production process from pulp to material through to the finished printed product on FSC material. Ecologically and technologically advanced press efficiencies enable us to keep printing systems as environmentally responsible as possible and we'll always explain to clients the quality and value of using FSC Certified material.
Our Heidelberg offset printer is an ecologically-rated printing press, which uses a Technotrans solvent recirculation system; recycling and reusing all solvents. We also use plant-based inks with low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) to reduce chemical usage.
The solvent recirculation system also reduces the use of water in the printing process and all platemaking is chemistry-free and therefore requires no water in the platemaking process. Meanwhile, our 7,000-litre capacity on-site water tanks service the building, maintaining consistent efficient usage.
On the power front, we maintain an average of 35-40% per annum consumed on site from our rooftop Solar Large Generation Certified Power Plant Installation (the 200 kW, 728-panel station was installed in 2018). And 100% of top up energy is sourced as renewable energy from GreenPower.
We implemented ISO 14001 (EMS) in 2005 and we’ve leveraged it to drive our culture around continual improvement, policies, and procedures ever since; providing frameworks for us to analyse risks from multi-stakeholder perspectives, identify issues and areas for improvement, and monitor our progress towards our goals.
Single-use plastics are avoided in our manufacturing processes – even the pallet (cling) wrap we use is made from LDPE and is highly recyclable. All non-recycled products are disposed of in accordance with IEPA accredited suppliers.
